Description
Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. Nose: balanced, deep. Phenolic, peaty and smoked, the first nose is also chocolatey. It evolves on candied fruits (lemon, grapefruit) and on iodine and camphor notes. Marked by spray and smoked fish, he asserts more and more his island temperament. Roasting aromas (grilled coffee, tobacco) come to the fore.Palate: firm, lively. Its attack is first spicy (grey pepper, clove) before the smoke and ash impose their flavors. Finely liquorice, the middle of the mouth becomes more and more earthy and saline. Mineral (cray), it returns to fresh fruits (pear, apple) and citrus fruits (lemon). The mouth is lactic (agave) and floral (lily, iris).Final: long, ash. Freshly cut grass and green mint testify to its herbaceous character. Then, gentian and ginger roots put it deep in the soil of Islay. The retro olfaction is shared between peat, smoke and white fruit. Empty glass is empyreumatic (bitumen, eucalyptus).
