Description
Ardbeg still breaks the codes with a newcomer in the brand’s permanent range, Wee Beastie which means “little beast”. While most peaty single malts are looking for softness and balance brought about by aging, Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been aged 5 years in bourbon and Sherry Oloroso barrels to preserve the intensity of the smoke we love so much among peat aficionados.
Nose: Very fresh, herbaceous with hints of vanilla, pear and black pepper. Powerful coffee and pine resin. After adding a dash of water, other herbaceous notes are revealed: vetiver, fennel but also anise, green apple and leather.
Palate: A powerful and rich expression in the mouth with lots of chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon. Then touches of disinfectant, eucalyptus and anise.
Overall: A long finish that lines the mouth with an iodine flavour with hints of cocoa, caramel and smoked meat
